The pharmacist is responsible for compounding pharmaceutical preparations, preparing TPN and IV solutions, and monitoring patient medication therapy. They also provide medication counseling, supervise pharmacy technicians, and ensure quality assurance standards are met.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy and be registered with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. At least one year of hospital pharmacy experience is preferred, along with strong communication and organizational skills.
Performance of professional functions generally associated with the practice of pharmacy in the institutional setting.
Duties/Responsibilities: · Compounding and preparing ordered pharmaceutical preparations
· Contacting and conferring physicians if there are any questions or irregularities regarding medication orders
· Preparing TPN solutions and Monitoring TPN Patients as required
· Mixing of irrigating solutions and intravenous additive solutions as required using aseptic technique with the laminar air flow hood or CAL, or CACI for hazardous medications
· Shows competencies in aseptic technique, garbing and gowning, and didactic training in IV and HD preparation
· Consulting with physician and nursing staff concerning availability, form, side effects and incompatibilities of currently available drugs
· Responsible for the collection of Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement data
· Interprets prescription orders and contacts provider or insurer as indicated
· Performs medication counseling for patients as requested
· Supervises activities and checks work of pharmacy technicians
· Performs other duties as assigned

· Bachelors Degree or Doctorate of Pharmacy, must meet state requirements for Pharmacist and registered by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
· Minimum of one year experience in hospital Pharmacy preferred
