The surgical technologist assists surgeons during complex cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and transplant procedures. They are responsible for preparing the operating room, managing sterile instruments, and ensuring patient safety through proper positioning and equipment maintenance.
Candidates must be graduates of a surgical technologist training program and hold a BLS certification from the American Heart Association. A minimum of 2 years of current multispecialty surgical experience is required for certified candidates, or 5 years for non-certified candidates.
