The specialist will support HIV prevention services by engaging patients in PrEP and PEP uptake, adherence, and persistence. They will also develop culturally responsive prevention programs and collaborate with clinical teams to reduce barriers to care.
Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in public health, health education, or clinical service delivery. Fluency in both Spanish and English is required to support Latinx communities.

The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH), through the Division of Disease Control’s Health Center #1, provides a full range of primary medical and support services to registered patients. Health Center #1 provides testing and treatment for common STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital warts, herpes, syphilis, and trichomoniasis.
HIV has had a disproportionate impact on marginalized communities. In Philadelphia, reducing new HIV infections and improving health outcomes for People Living with HIV (PLWH) remains a critical public health priority. Advances in HIV treatment and prevention present a historic opportunity to have a great effect on reducing new cases of HIV and ending the epidemic locally.
To advance Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) efforts locally in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health is seeking qualified candidates to work as the HIV Prevention Specialist for Health Center #1 (HC#1), the City’s largest sexual health clinic.
Ability to sit for long periods of time, and transport equipment or materials up to 25 pounds; travel between community sites throughout the City; use the computer and phone; ability to engage in regular interpersonal contact with clinic patients, public health staff, and community partners. Good vision and hearing with corrective devices, as needed, are essential.
30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with an additional one evening/week and an opportunity to occasionally have additional after-hours and on weekends to support Program activities. This is a grant-funded position; continuation of the position is contingent upon sustained funding. Employees are expected to work in the office or in the field full-time.
Minimum three (3) years of work experience related to public health, health policy and planning, health education, and/or clinical service delivery.
Salary is $64,000-$67,000 with incremental increases scheduled for fully successful performance. This position comes with a comprehensive benefits package consisting of medical and dental coverage, paid sick leave, vacation, personal time, and a retirement plan.
