The aide provides hands-on personal care and assists patients with daily living activities according to their individual care plans. They also monitor patient vitals, report changes in condition to nursing staff, and maintain accurate medical documentation.
Candidates must hold a High School Diploma or GED and possess or obtain BLS and CENA certifications. The role requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving patients, as well as competency in Microsoft Windows.
Responsible for following individual patient care plan to assist patient and/or perform personal care when an individual or family cannot perform the tasks. The aide will care for patients with all types of diagnoses and in many different phases of illness.
Certifications and Licensures
BLS - Basic Life Support Required Equivalent Experience - Required within 1 month of hire or transfer CENA - Cert Educated Nurse Aide Required Equivalent Experience - Required within 4 months of hire or transfer FINGERPRIN - Fingerprinting Required Equivalent Experience - Credential: DMVCHECK: DMV Record Check Equivalent Experience: Credential: CHAUFFEURS: Chauffeurs License Equivalent Experience: Required within one month of hire or transfer.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS: Attends meetings/in-services as required, aides are required to complete no less than 12 hours of continued education/in-service training as defined by the organization during a 12-month period during employment. An employee may be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and the ability to speak, write, and understand the English language. Ability to relate with all ages and individuals with different cultural and spiritual backgrounds. Ability to work with patients and families who are dealing with terminal illness, the dying process and death. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis. Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
