Perform medical laboratory procedures and determine the appropriateness of laboratory orders. Ensure proper specimen container selection and storage while communicating effectively with physicians and staff.
Requires an associate degree in laboratory science or equivalent military training and ASCP registration or eligibility. Candidates must be able to stand for long periods and handle hazardous materials.
Minimum Education Requirement: Associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
OR Official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and holds/held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
Relevant experience preferred. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Analytical skills necessary in order to determine proper specimen container and storage. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians and various other personnel.
