Responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of medical supplies and equipment following infection control practices. This includes operating sterilizers, managing supply stock, and maintaining documentation for spore testing.
Requires a high school diploma and one year of experience as a Central Sterile Reprocessing Technician. Candidates should have thorough knowledge of medical terminology and sterilization techniques.
$19.81-25.13/hour. The posted salary range reflects base compensation for candidates with a variety of experience. An offer within this range may be presented based on experience.
Uses knowledge of sterilization principals to correctly wrap/package items for sterilization. Knowledgeable of and able to perform proper handling and care of instruments for sterilization. Knowledgeable of and accesses Department Routines. Knowledgeable of and able to perform handling and care of special procedure items. Properly loads, operates and maintains all sterilizers, gas and steam. Able to locate and/or demonstrate knowledge of Equipment and supplies stored in Central Service, Methods used to request supplies, Supply exchange system, Stocking shelves, anesthesia carts, Stocks Central Service dispensing racks. Processes or oversees all instruments and supplies returned to Central Service. Demonstrates knowledge of safety matters. Inspects steam autoclaves for visible signs of malfunction and reports to OR Manager and Biomed Department Maintains appropriate spore testing on routine basis and at the beginning of the day shift and documents results as required Maintenance of supply stock and any other clerical work related to the Central Service, as requested. Applies aseptic techniques in daily work assignments. Performs general cleaning of department surface areas, racks, shelves, storage cabinets and all storage areas. Completes annual education requirements. Complies with all unit specific policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
HS diploma or equivalent. Continuing education in CSR desired. One year experience as Central Sterile Reprocessing Technician. Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department. Knowledgeable with cleaning and sterilization procedures and techniques. Basic understanding of various functions of the department. Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures. Manual dexterity, self-direction, communication, organization, and ability to work under stress.
