• New graduate nurses are hired in cohorts.
• The cohort members attend nursing orientation together, followed by a series of educational days over 6 months.
• These activities, besides being educational, also bring the group together promoting social support and relevant discussion of common situations encountered in the first year of practice.

• Schedule: Full time, 36 Hours; 12-hour Shifts. Must be available to work any shift, including weekends, until the completion of training. The specific shift assignments will be determined near the end of the orientation. You must obtain licensure for practice in Massachusetts before the start date and work full-time for six months in varying shifts. The selected candidates must make a two-year commitment to the unit that invests in training them. Upon completion of orientation, the nurse’s shift will be determined and assume positions of 36 Hour Night shift per week with every third weekend and every other holiday. SCHEDULING SUMMARY This schedule provides maximum exposure to the new clinical environment, colleagues, and patient populations. All cohort participants are paid as employees ($38.05 per hour) and will receive benefits according to Boston Medical Center’s established policies and procedures. Each nurse is responsible in collaboration with their preceptor and clinical nurse educator to devise weekly goals. Basic computer proficiency is inclusive of the ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information. Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various healthcare team members, patients, and families. Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work. Multilingual skills (beyond that of English) in languages appropriate to the patient populations served by the Medical Center preferred. Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement projects. REPORTING STRUCTURE Following the American Nurses Association’s “Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice,” the registered nurse, under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, is primarily responsible for professional performance and direct patient care.

• Range: $38.05- $75.33 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
