The RN provides comprehensive care for newborn and labor and delivery patients, including assessments, medication administration, and the implementation of individualized care plans. They collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety, recovery, and effective health education.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid Alabama nursing license and BLS certification. Prior nursing experience and CMSRN certification are preferred but not required.

Additionally, the unit clerk/scrub technician under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse performs various duties to assist in care of patients. These duties include, but are not limited to, transcribing physician orders, answering and dispatching patient calls, answering the telephone and transferring calls to the appropriate personnel, maintaining supply inventories, office equipment, and overall order and organization of the nurses station, performing first scrub procedures in the Delivery OR and assistant roles at a vaginal delivery.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions 1. Under the direct supervision of licensed nurses performs duties as assigned. 2. Courteously answers patient calls giving the patient reassurance and immediately notifying nursing personnel of patient’s needs 3. Initiates, assembles and maintains charts from admission to discharge. Following discharge, prepares the chart for transport to health information management. 4. Knowledgeable of and performs computer applications as appropriate to clerical responsibilities 5. Maintain appropriate inventories of forms and supplies 6. Maintain a clean and orderly work area 7. Perform first scrub role in Delivery OR 8. Stock department and OR after procedures
