The Inpatient RN coordinates nursing care, providing direct patient care and family education in a collaborative environment. They also provide leadership through precepting and quality improvement efforts across various pediatric specialty lines.
Candidates must have a BSN degree (or be in process), an Illinois RN license, and BLS and PALS certifications. Preferred qualifications include 2+ years of acute care experience and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
The Inpatient RN is responsible for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care in a collaborative, family-centered environment. This position will provide leadership by acting as an informal and formal leader, preceptor and through quality improvement efforts. Inpatient Pediatric Registered Nurses will have the opportunity to expand their practice through exposure to all of our lines of service, including Orthopedics, Spinal Cord Injury, Rehabilitation and Cleft Lip and Palate. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Shriners Children's Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED), which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluation and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Required: BSN degree or in process Illinois RN License Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from American Heart Association Preferred: 2+ years acute care hospital RN experience Pediatric experience in an orthopedic and/or plastics environment Bilingual English/Spanish
