The Certified Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers, including performing nursing duties and managing patient records. They are also responsible for office coordination, such as scheduling, triage, and maintaining a safe clinical environment.
Candidates must be a graduate of a CMA program and hold an active certification. One year of experience in a provider office or hospital setting is preferred.
Rivers Health is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant. Assists the provider with treatment of patients in the office, handles administrative and nursing duties related to patient care. Maintains a high quality of care within an office setting.
1. Perform general nursing duties. Assess patients’ general condition and take vital signs and
History. Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
Documents all activities, interventions and medications in the patient record. Obtains
pre-certifications, pre-authorizations and referrals from insurance companies.
1. Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice and instructions.
1. Responsible in handling critical lab values and promptly seeking physician orders. Schedule outside referrals. Assist with Medical procedures. Answer telephone. Scheduling patients for office visits and/or hospital tests. Sending prescriptions into pharmacy. Calling patients with test results.
1. Assists the physicians in the treatment and care of the patients in the office. Maintains
exam rooms and other patient areas for the physician to examine the patients.
1. Responsible for ensuring safety, infection control and other policies and procedures
are followed in the office.
1. Perform routine office laboratory procedures.
1. Maintain equipment and supplies needed for patient care.
1. Answer the phones. Triage telephone patient care issues directly to clinic provider.
1. Adheres to Corporate Policies, JCAHO, Rural Health, Departmental Policies and Procedures, and Personnel Employee Handbook.
1. Demonstrates professionalism and accountability.
1. Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
1. Filling in during co-workers absence. Cover for other nursing personnel when they are not here and complete full range of duties. Cover other areas as needed.
1. General receptionist duties including but not limited to answering phones, scheduling patients, prepare cash receipts, registering patients, and entering daily charges.
1. Other duties as assigned.
Graduate of a CMA program. Must hold an active certification. One year experience preferred in a provider office or hospital related area working with direct patient care.
