Responsibilities
Administer infusion therapies for oncology patients, including IV antibiotics, IV antifungals, steroids, IVIG, hydration, and vitamins per physician orders
Manage venous access devices and infusion-related procedures, including peripheral IVs and central venous access care (PICC lines, ports)
Deliver chemotherapy and related therapies per protocol; monitor for adverse reactions and respond to complications
Document nursing assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EPIC electronic medical record; coordinate with the oncology care team
Provide patient and caregiver education on medications, self-administration where appropriate, and post-infusion care; ensure safety and infection control standards
Monitor patient status during and after infusions, manage safety precautions, and escalate concerns to the treating team as needed
Complete required onboarding elements, including de-escalation training and adherence to the facility’s policies on drug screening and credentialing
Requirements
New York State RN license (current)
New York Temporary Health Care Service Agency license/registration certificate required upfront - 2+ years of current outpatient oncology and infusion experience
Chemo Certification (ONS) and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) required
Peripheral IV insertion experience required
Port, fistula, and catheter experience required
IV Certification highly preferred
EPIC experience required - 14-panel drug screen to be completed within 24 hours of offer acceptance
