Perform and assist with various GI and endoscopy procedures while managing specimen flow and equipment troubleshooting. Maintain accurate patient records using EPIC charting and ensure strict adherence to infection control and sterilization protocols.
Requirements summary
Requires an active New York RN license, BLS certification, and at least one year of RN experience. Proficiency in EPIC charting and the ability to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings are mandatory.
Provide direct nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients undergoing GI procedures (colonoscopy, EGD) in an inpatient setting
Perform pre-procedure assessment, establish IV access, and monitor anesthesia/sedation per protocol; monitor patient status throughout the procedure
Manage post-procedure recovery, including vitals, pain control, and patient education; identify and respond to potential complications
Document care and procedure details in the Epic charting system
Assist with room turnover, instrument handling, sterile technique, and overall unit readiness
Collaborate with GI physicians, anesthesia, and nursing staff to coordinate care and ensure safe discharge planning; may float to related GI/endoscopy tasks as needed
Requirements
NY RN license in hand to submit
BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
Inpatient GI/endoscopy experience; core skills include inpatient endoscopy, colonoscopy, and EGD
Epic charting experience required
Traveler experience: 1st-time travelers accepted; non-local candidates only (posting requires >75 miles distance)
