Responsibilities
Provide ongoing RN care for inpatients undergoing GI/endoscopy procedures (colonoscopy, EGD) from pre-procedure assessment to post-procedure recovery.
Monitor patient status, vital signs, and sedation recovery; intervene per protocol and escalate as needed.
Assist with colonoscopy and EGD procedures, ensuring sterile techniques and safety standards are followed.
Administer prescribed medications and ensure accurate documentation of care, including peri-procedural orders and post-procedure instructions.
Document all nursing care in EPIC, including assessments, interventions, and patient education; participate in discharge planning and coordination with the GI team.
Requirements
Active NY RN license in hand required to submit
Minimum 1 year RN experience; traveler experience: first-time travelers accepted
Certifications: BLS and ACLS required
Inpatient endoscopy experience with colonoscopy and EGD
EPIC charting experience is a hard requirement
Certifications listed in posting: NIHSS, PALS are noted but not fully confirmed
Ability to float to related units as needed; block scheduling; some weekend call with one night of call every 7–12 days
