The COTA is responsible for implementing treatment plans, documenting patient care, and communicating progress to supervising therapists and interdisciplinary teams. They also instruct families and nursing staff on home exercises and maintain a safe treatment environment.
Candidates must hold an Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant and be licensed to practice as a COTA in North Carolina. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
