The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties in a medical practice setting. Responsibilities include providing clerical support and assisting in the delivery of healthcare and patient care activities.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and complete a medical assistant program or equivalent training. Certification as a Medical Assistant and BLS certification are required within two weeks of hire.
The Certified Medical Assistant will perform delegated clinical and administrative duties consistent with Medical Assistant program education, training, and experience. May work in both the clinical and front office functions of the practice providing clerical support, assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities at the direction of the physician/provider. The incumbent performs the duties described below in accordance with the specific needs of the practice. If working in the Rural Health Clinic setting, will be required to have BLS through the American Heart Association. This position requires working every 5 out of 6 weekends.
Experience: Previous experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent, previous experience with an electronic health record and phlebotomy. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of Epic. Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette. Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow. Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections. OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
