• Concord Counseling Services is seeking a part-time Respite Companion (10 hours per week) to provide respite for caregivers who have someone with a severe mental illness living with them. This position has flexible hours based on the needs of the client and the availability of the Respite Companion.
• Provide in-home and/or community engagement services to the loved one so that the caregiver can attend to other needs
• Assist clients in achieving an increased level of independence within the community by accompanying them to meals, activities etc.
• Assist in stress reduction within the family and the client through a strength-based service plan
• Increase the clients’ interactions outside of his/her family unit and home

Requirements

• Qualifications Needed for Success for a Respite Companion
• High School diploma or equivalent with an Associate’s degree in Social Work preferred.
• Some knowledge of mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and their impact on functioning and behavior.
• Demonstrated sound judgement and the ability to model appropriate behavior.
• Must have a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, maintain a good driving record and have the ability to provide safe transportation
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
