The Anesthesia Technician coordinates equipment and supplies for the department and assists in integrating surgical and anesthesia equipment. They support licensed personnel with patient preparation for anesthesia and the transport of approved medications.
Requires a high school diploma and at least one year of job-related experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, while PALS certification and vocational training in anesthesia are preferred.
The Anesthesia Technician coordinates the equipment and supplies for the department. This position also assists in integrating surgical and anesthesia equipment to ensure effective and efficient operations.
Verify equipment is functioning properly; ensure efficient arrangement of equipment and disposable products to enhance work efficiency of licensed personnel. Coordinate the needs of anesthesia; assist with technical aspects of getting patients ready for general or regional anesthesia; assist with intravenous, intra-arterial and other monitoring catheters. May occasionally assist licensed personnel with non-invasive patient care as directed. Utilizing established safety protocols, transports and delivers approved medications from the pharmacy or Omnicell to the operating room as directed by the anesthesia provider. Participate in rotation of coordinating personnel, i.e. during Team Leader's absence and/or when a call is received via pager, relays incoming assignment (e.g. room to be prepped) to the available Anesthesia Tech. Participate in new product evaluation at the direction of a team leader/manager. Assist with orienting new anesthesia technicians. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. WORK EXPERIENCE At least 1 year Anesthesia Tech job related experience required
EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent required One year vocational or technical school or equivalent education/experience relating to anesthesia preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements required PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) 180 Days preferred
