Perform and score adult and pediatric sleep studies, including titration, MSLT, and HSAT procedures. Provide comprehensive patient care and education while collaborating with medical directors to treat sleep disorders.
Requires a high school diploma and BRPT certification with at least 24 months of direct sleep patient care experience. Proficiency in AASM scoring standards and the ability to handle physical demands up to 50 lbs is necessary.
Education High School Equivalent / GED (Required) Associate's Degree 2-4 year degree program (Preferred) Work Experience 2+ years Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (or equivalent) with documented proficiency in all competencies required of a Technologist with a minimum of 24 months direct sleep patient care experience. (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Proficient knowledge of scoring requirements following AASM Standards. (Required proficiency) Knowledge of scope of practice and thorough understanding of the basics of patient monitoring and care delivery. Good interpersonal skills. (Required proficiency) Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies; (Required proficiency) has a command of the sleep-induced changes in the physiology of various body systems; (Required proficiency) has a working knowledge of the physiological and behavioral aberrations associated with sleep/arousal pathology and be capable of rapid interpretation of various tracings as to be able to intervene during a study.
