About the role

The Recovery Specialist supports participants in managing addiction by facilitating recovery-focused groups and providing individual case management. They act as a liaison between the clinical team and clients to integrate recovery into a holistic treatment approach.

BrightQuest Treatment Centers in La Mesa, CA is hiring for a Recovery Specialist.

Primary Purpose & Function

Recovery Specialist

The Recovery Specialist serves to support Recovery Program participants in acquiring the skills necessary to manage their drug/alcohol addiction or addictive behavior(s). The MSS – Recovery Specialist serves as a liaison between the Clinical Team and the clients, ensuring the client’s addiction recovery is well integrated into a comprehensive and holistic treatment approach.

Qualifications

  • Registration in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling (e.g. CATC, RADT, CADC, LADC) is preferred.
  • 1 year minimum experience working with substance abuse and dually diagnosed individuals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the 12-Step and SMART Recovery models.
  • Ability to implement and enforce program guidelines, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Duties: & Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required. Facilitate recovery-focused groups along with other milieu-related groups as needed. When facilitating groups, specialists are expected to enforce milieu rules and structure as well as support clients in adhering to the program expectations and responsibilities in treatment.

Ability to network with various recovery communities to provide additional resources and contacts for available recovery meetings as well as potential contacts for monthly Speaker Meetings.

Educate clients on the Recovery Program including purpose, participation, UA protocols, and behavioral expectations.

Provide individual and group case management pertaining to recovery, working closely with both the Clinical and Milieu Support staff departments regarding client goals and interventions.

Individual case management should be focused to review the client’s weekly meeting attendance, as evidenced by their recovery meeting slip, and discuss any truancy, transportation, and scheduling issues related to recovery meeting attendance.

Discuss any areas of the client’s treatment that pertain to recovery including but not limited to substance urges/cravings, stressors, coping mechanisms and relapse prevention.

Collaborate with the client to develop short and long-term treatment goals as well as track the progress towards these goals.

Provide support and education to Milieu Support Staff regarding effective room and belonging searches as well as UA protocols, proper Recovery Meeting etiquette (purpose, boundaries, networking, etc.) when tasked with supporting clients to outside meetings.

Ce well informed on the background, diagnoses, treatment plans, group and session presentation, housing issues and any other therapeutic information that pertains to each client on their caseload and clients in the Recovery Program.

Oversee and review available Recovery meetings in terms of keeping up to date on time, place, and quality of meeting and consulting with the greater Clinical and Milieu Teams to make any necessary changes.

Support clients in their treatment and recovery process as well as coordination with client sponsors when necessary.

Direct involvement in supporting the greater Clinical Team in developing and executing supported interventions should a client relapse.

Apply knowledge of various recovery models (AA, NA, OA, CA, Al-Anon, etc.).

Document clear and concise Case Management notes on the individual counseling provided.

Responsible for administering, documenting, tracking, and shipping UA tests.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
