Details: This position seeks to provide prevention for youth and families by making connections for help early and timely so that issues do not reach crisis levels or become repeating crises. It will also aide in alleviating the long terms effects of traumatic events. To improve the mental health status of children in our service area and beyond by linking them with the appropriate mental health services at Dayton Children's and within the greater Dayton community. Staff will conduct a mental health and social needs screening on all families and will provide resource options. Staff will follow up with families and communicate outcomes with referral source. Staff will work with families to identify barriers to obtaining mental health treatment and social needs resources and problem solve to come up with alternate options when barriers are present. Collaborates with the crisis center staff on kids in crisis. Provides screening to determine family’s social needs, including transportation, food, home safety, utilities, medical, benefit needs, supplies, child care activities, and job training. Links the family to appropriate resources based on identified needs and follows up with families to assure access to resources. Position will additionally support connecting physicians and nurse practitioners in the community to mental health education supports available through Dayton Children's Hospital, enrolling area physicians and providers into the Ohio Pediatric Psychiatric Access Line program, and engaging in promotion and expansion of the program.
