The Clinical Dietitian assesses the nutritional status of patients to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans. They collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate progress and ensure patient-centered care.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and be a Registered Dietitian (RD) or eligible for registration. Licensure as a Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) in Illinois is required or must be obtained within one year of hire.
A Clinical Dietitian is an expert in human nutrition and medical nutrition therapy. The Clinical Dietitian assesses nutritional status of patients based on their individualized needs and goals and develops and implements corresponding nutrition care plans. The role of the Clinical Dietitian is to evaluate current nutrition status, formulate interventions, reassess for changes and record ongoing nutritional progress. The Clinical Dietitian is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team, and helping patients and their support system to ensure patient-centered care is achieved.
