Obtains current patient information including but not limited to: vital signs, height, weight, specimens, allergies, reason for visit, chief complaint, medical history updates, and medication changes, and records same on patient chart.
Properly identify and prepare the patient and explain procedures.
Maintains patient privacy during testing.
Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
Perform routine EKG procedures in accordance with the American Heart Association standards and department policies.
Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
Performs treatment & wound care.
Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients/ family/ significant others while providing care in a high stress environment with multiple priorities.
Administers
oral, topical, and injectable medications according to patient safety standards. Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
