The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections, Comprehensive Health Division, is responsible for providing necessary medical, dental and mental health care to a population of 30,000 offenders housed in 55 facilities across the state. \n\nJob Quick Facts\n• Ref#: BD-898-02\n• Profession: Physician (MD)\n• Specialty: Psychiatry\n• Job Type: Contract\n• Location: Raleigh, NC\n• Coverage Type: Onsite\n• Service Setting: Inpatient\n• Facility Type: Correctional\n• Shift Schedule: This position is needed for 3- 5 days a week. No Calls.\n\nRequirements\n• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.\n• Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry.\n• Completed an ACGME approved training program in psychiatry \n• DEA certification \n• BLS/ACLS certification \n• Prior experience in correctional, forensic, or inpatient psychiatric settings\n\nResponsibilities\n• Assess and screen patients by conducting psychiatric evaluations. \n• Develop treatment plans and prescribe medication.\n• Monitor patients to determine efficacy and potential side effects of medications. \n• Provide crisis intervention as needed. \n• Complete all necessary clincial documentation in an accurate and timely manner \n• Accept obligations of scheduled assignments and perform all other duties as requested by the facility.
