The Chaplain provides spiritual support, counseling, and worship services to residents, families, and staff dealing with grief and the dying process. They collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and coordinate with outside clergy and community programs.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in theology and at least 12 months of experience in pastoral care and counseling. Must be an ordained minister in good standing with a denomination and possess a valid driver's license for frequent travel.
Chaplin PRN Mileage Reimbursement PURPOSE According to prescribed policies and procedures of the organization including all applicable state, federal and accreditation regulations and under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the Chaplain is responsible for providing spiritual support to residents, families and staff via telephone contact, residential and hospital visits. Duties and schedule are assigned, consistent with part-time or contingent employment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides spiritual support to include Bible studies, worship Services, and counseling to the residents, their families and staff. in relation to issues of grief, loss, and the dying process. Contacts family and/or outside Clergy, as requested, to support residents. Assists with making hospital visits to provide spiritual support for the residents and the staff. Assists with bereavement, memorial services and activities related to the religious and spiritual concerns of the residents, their families and the staff. Works and communicates with other members of the community interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of comprehensive resident, family and staff care. Participates in programs and activities in the surrounding community as requested EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates and maintains a positive, professional manner, manages time efficiently and effectively, provides leadership as a role model to promote a team approach, collaborates and participates in policy creation and appropriate problem-solving methods. Must adhere to all policies, procedures, terms and conditions set forth in the National Church Residences’ Employee Information Guide (EIG), the Code of Conduct, as well as any facility handbook, including but not limited to, corporate compliance, drug free workplace, safe work practices, all federal, state, local regulations and laws. With respect to Resident Rights, ensures all care is provided with respect and dignity for the residents/clients, their families and the staff. Reports all complaints made by residents/clients and/or families to the appropriate supervisors, reports all allegations of abuse, misappropriation of funds/resident property and/or any other corporate compliance, drug free workplace, safe work practices, all federal, state and local regulations and laws. Completes all annual education requirements timely, including but not limited to Compliance, Privacy, Security and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Conduct in the performance of their duties. Performs other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATION SHEET— CHAPLAIN Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of theology preferred.
Minimum of 12 months experience in providing ecumenical approach in pastoral care and client/family counseling.
Must have good communication, comprehension, computer and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
Must have good computer skills with basic professional computer software (Microsoft Office suite, Windows, etc.) and the capacity for learning new software systems quickly. Must be self-directed with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks and assignments concurrently.
Frequent. Must have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and qualified to drive under the organization‘s motor vehicle check.
Must be endorsed and in good standing with a denomination as evidenced by an ordination document.
