The COTA implements therapeutic interventions and carries out care plans to help acute care patients improve their ability to perform daily activities. Responsibilities include collaborating with OTs, recommending adaptive equipment, and documenting patient progress.
Candidates must hold an Associate's Degree from an accredited OTA program and a valid NC OTA License. Strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to make rapid decisions in a fast-paced environment are required.
include and are not limited to: Communicating with Occupational Therapists regarding plan of care progression Implementation of interventions and education in line with POC and within the COTA scope of practice Making recommendations for adaptive equipment or durable medical equipment to help patients reach their highest level of safe independence in activities of daily living Working with interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patients while supporting the hospital's mission and values Documenting and billing appropriately
