The Medical Assistant performs a blend of clerical administrative tasks and clinical office assisting within a specialty wound care setting. Key duties include scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, documenting patient vitals, and assisting providers with minor procedures.
Candidates should be high school graduates or equivalent with a preference for 6 months of clinical experience as a nursing assistant or in a related field. Must possess the ability to manage patient records and interact effectively with patients and providers.
Receives patients and their families and directs them to the appropriate place. Answers telephones promptly and politely. Schedules appointments Files pertinent information within patient’s records Obtains insurance prior authorizations Inputs charges on patient accounts Verifies patient insurance upon registration Billing Obtains & documents vital signs on patients Acts as a chaperone for the provider when needed Obtains & document patient weights Assist physician with minor procedures such as suture removal PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent 6 months of clinical experience as a nursing assistant or related field Ability to file and retrieve patient records. Ability to obtain & document patient vitals, weights, etc Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families and providers UNION: CSEA (MH) Note: Not all per diem roles are union eligible EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. PAY RANGE: $19.08 - $27.99 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
