The Patient Care Assistant supports the unit by performing essential patient care duties including cleaning, bathing, and transporting patients. Additionally, they are responsible for performing EKGs and Glucometer POC tests under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
A high school diploma or GED is required, with CNA certification and previous hospital experience preferred. Candidates must hold or obtain BLS certification and a certificate in conflict resolution and physical intervention techniques.
Overview The Patient Care Assistant assists the unit in patient care duties such as cleaning/bathing patients, positioning, re-positioning and transporting patients, stocking shelves, cleaning equipment and assisting with dietary tasks. Education: A high school diploma or GED. Certified Nursing Assistant training preferred Experience: Previous receptionist / hospital unit secretarial experience preferred Licenses/Certificates: CNA Certification preferred. Current BLS certification required or within 30 days of hire (Certification must be current prior to being release from Orientation status and providing independant patient care without an assigned preceptor). Certificate of Completion of a formal program that meets regulatory standards in Conflict resolution, de-escalation and teaches physical intervention techniques. Must have on hire or obtained within 90 days of hire (I.e. MOAB, CPI or equivalent)
