Perform routine venipuncture and heel sticks for patients of all ages while maintaining accurate lab records. Assist with quality control, specimen distribution, and the sterilization of laboratory equipment.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with phlebotomy training, preferably from an accredited diploma program. One year of experience as a lab assistant or phlebotomist is preferred.

Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc. Performs routine venipuncture & heel sticks appropriate to the age-specific needs of all patients, including peri-natal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, with little or no supervision. Verify and/or record identity of patient and converse with patient to explain procedure as well as allay fear of procedure. Perform daily quality control in the laboratory as needed. Maintain records/logs of lab work performed and provide daily reports to the Director of Laboratory & Infection Control. Assist with identification and labeling of specimens. Stores and distributes specimens. Operates, cleans, and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments. Cleans work area. Answers telephone takes messages and provides routine laboratory information. Checks inventory of supplies and assists with placing orders. Attends required meetings and participate in committees as requested. Adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
