Histotechnologist (HTL)

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose Responsible for providing a variety of routine and/or complex tests and procedures on tissue and related surgical specimens submitted for histological examination.

Responsibilities

• Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation and procedure validation. Performs, prepares, and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. May assist supervisor in maintaining quality plan, procedure manual, variance management, interdepartmental functionality, and writing policies/procedures. Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas. Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities. Trained to perform tissue gross examination as needed. (Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42CFR493) Minimum Requirements Education High School Diploma or GED Experience <2 years Supervisor Experience No Experience Licenses & Certifications HTL-ASCP or equiv Preferred Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree
