About the role

Position Summary

The Primary Therapist provides clinical care to individuals receiving inpatient treatment in a residential behavioral health setting. This role is responsible for conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, facilitating individual and group therapy, and supporting patients throughout the recovery process. The therapist works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care for individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and clinical evaluations
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and the care team
  • Provide individual therapy sessions for assigned caseload
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and process therapy groups
  • Provide education to patients on substance use disorders, mental health, and recovery strategies
  • Deliver integrated care for individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
  • Utilize trauma-informed and strength-based approaches to support recovery
  • Coordinate care and make referrals for additional clinical or therapeutic services as needed
  • Collaborate with families and support systems, including conducting family sessions when appropriate
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Work closely with medical, clinical, and residential staff to ensure coordinated care
  • Participate in clinical team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related behavioral health field
  • Current licensure or working toward licensure preferred (examples include LCSW, CSW, LMHC, LMFT, LPCC, LPCA, CADC, LCADC)
  • At least one year of clinical experience in a substance use or mental health treatment setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team

Work Environment

This position is based in a residential treatment facility and involves direct interaction with patients in a therapeutic setting. Therapists maintain an active caseload and provide a combination of individual therapy, group facilitation, treatment planning, and care coordination.
