Requirements summary

How you’ll contribute
A Respiratory Therapist who excels in this role
Examine and treat patients with breathing-related conditions, perform diagnostic testing, and collaborate with physicians to develop and implement treatment.
Provide patient education on therapies and medication use.
Perform physiotherapy and related treatments.
Measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood analyzer; may perform bedsides PFTs, EKGs, and tobacco-cessation education as ordered.
Deliver ordered respiratory therapies; monitor, record, and communicate patient condition and response to treatment.
Respond to codes and emergent calls; assesses patient condition and provides appropriate interventions.
Evaluate and contribute to respiratory care policies and procedures based on outcomes, research, and best practices.
Educate patients and families on illness, treatments, device use, and community resources.
Monitor, receive, stock, and distribute respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders; maintain storage areas and equipment readiness.
Disassemble, clean, sterilize, perform preventive maintenance and calibrate respiratory equipment.
Perform all responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
Participate in performance improvement and required education.
