Position Summary

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assists the supervising Physical Therapist with resident-related activities and direct resident care. The PTA plays a vital role in helping residents improve mobility, restore function, and achieve their highest level of independence while delivering exceptional rehabilitative care in a skilled nursing setting. Duties and Responsibilities

Provide resident treatments and therapeutic interventions as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist. Complete timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility policies, governmental regulations, and third-party payer requirements. Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control, safety, and equipment maintenance protocols. Participate in Resident Care Conferences and Rehabilitation Department meetings as needed. For California PTAs, maintain compliance with California Laws and Regulations related to Physical Rehabilitation Manual Article 4 §1398.44. Assist the nursing department with training and education of Restorative Aides. Communicate regularly with the supervising Physical Therapist regarding resident progress, goals, physician updates, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary care coordination. Provide in-service training and educational programs for facility staff as needed. Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, safety techniques, maintenance programs, and fall prevention strategies. Recommend and facilitate ordering of durable medical equipment (DME) to promote resident independence and safety, including walkers, canes, splints, grab bars, and elevated toilet seats. Maintain strict confidentiality of resident and company information. Report equipment concerns promptly to ensure safe and effective operation. Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement initiatives, and rehabilitation program development. Build positive and professional relationships with residents, families, staff, and healthcare professionals. Qualifications Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the State of California. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Skilled nursing, post-acute, or rehabilitation experience preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
