The Clinical Oncology Pharmacist provides professional pharmacy services across all campuses, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Key duties include managing drug regimens in the EHR, consulting with physicians, and serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents.
Candidates must be a licensed pharmacist in Alabama with a PGY2 in Oncology and BCOP certification. Experience in oncology/hematology is required, with a preference for at least four years of pharmacy setting experience.
Job Purpose The purpose of the Clinical Oncology Pharmacist is to provide professional pharmacy services at all Clearview Cancer Institute campuses with appropriate collaboration and information. Essential Job Functions Establish and support pharmacy services in compliance with state and federal rules and regulations. Supervise the preparation of any medicines if needed. Provide drug information to all personnel in a timely and accurate manner. Create drug reviews for all newly approved drugs in oncology/hematology. Manage all Revlimid/Pomalyst/Thalomid prescriptions and REMS enrollment for CCI MDs Manage formulary within the EHR and maintain a common nomenclature for drug names and regimen names. Create and maintain regimens with the EHR. Assist in verifying new regimens are correct before promoting to practice. Assist in answering any MD/APP/IV clinical pharmacy questions. Consult with doctors about treatments, regimens, and prescriptions. Serve as a Preceptor to students enrolled in a college of pharmacy and Residents for PGY1 and PGY2. Keep up to date with current pharmacy practices, new drugs and their uses. Ability to be at work regularly and on time. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have good communication skills, both oral and written Must have a high level of scientific understanding and ability. Must possess good math skills with the ability to calculate and use scientific formulas. Must have high accuracy and attention to detail. Must be able to organize and prioritize your work. Must possess a responsible and security-conscious attitude. Education/Experience Graduation from an accredited school of Pharmacy. Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Alabama. Must have PGY2 in Oncology Must maintain BCOP certification Must have oncology/hematology experience Preferred: at least (4) years’ experience in a Pharmacy setting. Working conditions This position works in the pharmacy department of a busy outpatient oncology/hematology clinic. Some direct patient contact may be required. Physical requirements This position requires that the employee be able to stand on their feet for up to nine hours a day.
