The Traveling Medical Scribe provides real-time documentation of patient encounters, procedures, and care plans for nephrologists across various clinic and dialysis sites. They are responsible for preparing patient charts and coordinating care with providers and nursing staff to ensure accurate EHR maintenance.
A high school diploma is required, while an associate's or bachelor's degree in a healthcare field is preferred. Candidates should have familiarity with EHR systems and a strong understanding of medical terminology related to kidney disease and hypertension.
The Traveling Medical Scribe supports nephrologists by accurately and efficiently documenting patient encounters, procedures, and care plans during clinic visits across multiple locations. This position plays a key role in maintaining high-quality documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system and ensuring smooth coordination of care for patients with chronic kidney disease and related conditions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable working in a mobile healthcare setting while traveling between clinics and dialysis centers. Key Responsibilities: ● Accurately document patient encounters in real time, including history, physical examination, diagnoses, and treatment plans, as directed by the nephrologist. ● Prepare charts prior to patient visits by reviewing labs, imaging, dialysis records, and past notes. ● Travel with the provider to various clinic and dialysis locations throughout the week; assist with setup and ensure patient records are accessible. ● Manage and update the electronic health record (EHR) to ensure completeness and accuracy of all medical documentation. ● Communicate effectively with providers, dialysis nurses, and office staff to coordinate patient care and ensure follow-up on labs, imaging, and medication changes. ● Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all clinic policies. ● Perform administrative tasks as needed to support efficient clinic operations, including organizing charts, verifying insurance or demographic information, and assisting with scheduling coordination.
Education: ● High school diploma or equivalent required. ● Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare or science-related field preferred.
● Prior experience as a medical scribe, medical assistant, or clinical support staff preferred. ● Experience in nephrology, internal medicine, or dialysis is a strong plus. ● Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, or similar).
