The role involves performing pre-test ophthalmic procedures and diagnostic imaging while providing real-time clinical documentation for provider-patient encounters. Additionally, the position coordinates clinic workflow, assists in minor procedures, and maintains medical equipment and supplies.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least one year of experience as an ophthalmic technician or medical scribe. Proficiency in EHR systems is required, and certifications such as COA, COT, or OSC are preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one (1) year of prior ophthalmic technician or medical scribe experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation practices preferred. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and computer applications. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or Ophthalmic Scribe Certified (OSC) preferred but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check as a condition of employment, including prior to any transfer or promotion within the organization. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively as part of a team. Must be willing and able to travel between assigned clinic locations as needed. Maintains confidentiality of all patient, employee, and company information. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit or stand for extended periods throughout the workday. Frequent use of computer, keyboard, and mouse for data entry and documentation. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate clinical equipment and office devices. Visual and auditory ability sufficient to observe, document, and communicate effectively. Occasional lifting of materials up to 10 pounds.
