Position Overview

Valley Veterinary Emergency & Referral Center is a 24/7 award-winning veterinary hospital seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant. Our center is a newly renovated, 13,000+ square foot facility with dedicated staff and state-of-the-art equipment (like digital radiography and endoscopy) to offer the highest level of emergency and critical care.

Minimum of 2 years' experience required.

Primary Responsibilities

• Properly restrain animals. Obtain a thorough history from pet owner. Accurately measure and record each patient's weight and basic vitals (temp, pulse rate, and respiratory rate). Assist in anesthesia induction and patient prep for surgical procedures Clean and prep surgical packs and supplies Efficiently set up, turn over and break down OR and prep areas Understand triage and follow hospital policies regarding critical patients. Using aseptic procedures, draw up injections for doctors or technicians to administer. Properly package and store samples as needed. Assist with routine exam room procedures. Monitor patients' behavior. Maintain a positive attitude, work well and collaboratively as a team. be able to work well under pressure. Ability to multitask and produce efficiently under a heavy workload. Assist in maintaining inventory and alert supervisor of items that are running low. Maintain adequate interdepartmental communications regarding patient care and client issues.
