Collaborates with physicians to diagnose and treat patients in the newborn nursery, performing technical procedures and operative tasks. Coordinates communication between the healthcare team, patients, and families to ensure quality care and safety.
Requires a Master of Science in Nursing or graduation from an approved Physician Assistant program with appropriate state licensure and certification. Must hold CPR and BLS certifications and be eligible for DEA and CDS registration.
Under supervision, and in collaboration with physician colleagues, assists with diagnosing and treating patients; performs professional duties and technical procedures of the particular area of specialty to provide health care services, such as, operative procedures, suturing, and injections. Makes initial diagnosis and order appropriate tests and treatment. Assists in surgery where applicable; assists with facilitating and coordinating communication between the health care team, patient and patient’s family. Coordinates care to ensure quality, effective care and patient safety.
