The NP/PA serves as a first-line provider for critically ill patients in the CCU, managing admissions, assessments, and post-procedural care. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists and surgeons to implement care plans and perform authorized technical procedures.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited NP or PA program with a Bachelor of Science and hold a valid Michigan license. At least three years of clinical experience is required, with a preference for a critical care background and current BCLS/ACLS certifications.
We perform one of the highest volumes of complex aortic surgeries in all of Michigan.
Our heart surgeons and cardiologists work side-by-side in our hybrid ORs to perform transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures.
We’re one of the only programs in Michigan to offer the latest Ross procedure for aortic valve replacement.
At least three years of clinical working experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - Critical Care background preferred. Ability to perform effectively in stressful and/or emergent situations. Analytical ability to monitor data, develop treatment plans and prescribe medication.

Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to Trinity Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management. Assumes responsibility of patient care as a first line provider to critically ill patients in CCU. Works in collaboration with attending cardiologists, intensivists, consultants, cardiology fellows, medical residents, APPs, nurses, and other members of the care team to provide patient care. Facilitates and oversees the care of all patients in CCU participating in daily multidisciplinary rounds on all patients. Coordinates and performs patient assessments, H&P's, admission orders, necessary testing, follow-up care, consults, and discharge planning. Prepares appropriate pre and post operative orders in consultation with the attending cardiologist. Manages post procedural care including appropriate response to complications. Manages various cardiac devices in collaboration with care team. Performs technical procedures as credentialed and authorized. In accordance with unit or departmental practice, proficient with the electronic health records for documentation, assessment, and care management, performing these activities concurrently with provision of care throughout the shift. Assumes responsibility for professional growth by attending continuing education conferences, procedure and device in-services and unit educational offerings. Participates in hospital wide committees regarding cardiac services and/or process improvement.
