Interpret, prepare, and fill prescriptions while maintaining medication inventory and operating automated dispensing equipment. Provide patient-centered service and ensure compliance with VA, DEA, and HIPAA regulations.
Must be a US citizen with a high school diploma and a national CPhT or ExCPT certification. Requires at least one year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience within the last 24 months.
Interpret, prepare, and fill prescriptions for pharmacist verification Maintain clean, organized work areas and properly store medications Receive, stock, rotate, and reconcile medication inventory Use automated dispensing equipment and report malfunctions Record expiration dates and perform medication inspections Identify basic medication issues (e.g., duplicate therapies) and escalate to pharmacist Prepare non-sterile compounded medications Assist with sterile compounding (if applicable), following USP guidelines Measure, mix, label, and document compounded products Operate pharmaceutical equipment (mixers, balances, etc.) Assemble prescriptions with correct drug, dosage, and labeling Verify patient identity and ensure correct dispensing at pickup Support mail-order pharmacy (packaging, shipping coordination, patient calls) Use barcode scanning and VA systems (e.g., VISTA) for accuracy Fill and restock controlled medications Maintain accurate documentation per VA and DEA guidelines Track inventory, resolve discrepancies, and assist with audits Assist with sterile IV preparation and unit-dose medication management Replenish medication stock and emergency trays Inspect and maintain automated dispensing systems Provide patient-centered service and interact professionally with staff and patients Follow all VA policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements Protect patient health information (HIPAA compliance) Complete required trainings and documentation Participate in quality improvement and reporting initiatives
US Citizen Must hold active national certification: PTCB (CPhT) OR NHA (ExCPT) Must have at least one-year experience in hospital pharmacy setting (Inpatient) within the last 24 months Must be a graduate of an Academic Technician Training Educational Program Must be able to understand how to perform basic mathematical calculations Have basic typing and PC computer skills Have a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate Must read, understand, speak, and write English fluently No sponsorship available All candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist Lift up to 20 lbs Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance Push/pull with 30 lbs of force All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
