The Physician Substitute is responsible for screening potential donors, conducting physical exams, and monitoring vital signs to ensure donor eligibility and safety. They also manage adverse reactions and administer immunizations while maintaining accurate medical records in compliance with regulatory protocols.
A high school diploma or GED is required, and previous experience in a plasma physician substitute role is considered a plus. Candidates must possess strong computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work comfortably around bio-waste and blood plasma.

As a Physician Substitute, you will play a critical part in the plasma collection process, supporting both donor safety and overall center operations. Responsibilities include screening and assessing potential donors, conducting physical exams, managing adverse reactions, and performing immunizations. You will partner closely with the Center Manager and Center Physician, applying sound clinical judgment, maintaining composure in dynamic situations, and consistently following established safety and regulatory protocols. Perform medical evaluations in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements. Conduct initial interviews, health history assessments, and physical exams to determine donor eligibility. Monitor vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight during and after donations as required. Recognize and respond promptly to adverse reactions or emergencies during the donation process, consulting with the Center Physician as needed. Administer immunizations per company SOPs and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate and complete medical records of donor assessments, immunizations, and adverse reactions. Collaborate closely with the Center Physician and the Center Quality Manager on complex medical cases. Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols throughout the plasma collection process. Maintain confidentiality and uphold donor privacy in all aspects of the job.
