- GCBHS has an immediate opening for a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to provide nursing services to adults experiencing mental health and substance use disorder.
- The GCB Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing and established GCB policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Follows the steps in the nursing process to implement and monitor a holistic plan of care for behavioral health patients.
- The GCB nurse may serve as a coordinator in collaboration with other disciplines for purposes of coordination of patient care issues.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition and carries out physician and nursing orders.

The ideal candidate for our Nurse position will have experience working with adults in a psychiatric setting.
Responsibilities
- for the Nurse:
- Provide nursing services (primarily med/somatic) on-site and within communities to clients with a psychiatric nursing focus
- Administer medications and injections and provide medical/health screening and minor physical health duties (dressing changes/blood pressure screening/monitoring glucose levels/etc.)
- Provide psychiatric nursing assessment of individual clients as it relates to medication complications
- Assess the effectiveness of psychotropic medication therapy and educate clients on topics such as medications, side effects, and drug interactions. Attends ACT team meetings
- May be assigned to initiate, coordinate, and monitor evaluations necessary to identify patient needs in areas to include: living arrangements, financial concerns, physical/psychiatric health, activities of daily living, vocational/educational, social supports, leisure and recreation
- By assertive outreach, attempts to engage the patient in identifying and expressing his/her own needs, offers services to assist in meeting these needs within job duties, and re-assesses needs and outcomes with the patient
- A primary focus will be relapse prevention/mental and physical health promotion; will work closely with the teams to identify/evaluate factors leading to relapse, and will collaborate with team and other providers to develop and implement service interventions to ensure patient holistic health stability
Requirements
- for Registered Nurse (RN):
- OH Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Experience working with persons who have chronic mental illness preferred
- Excellent communication, documentation, and time management skills.
- Ability to be flexible with work schedule and assignments.
- Experience with working or living in the Warren County area is a plus
