  • Job Summary and Responsibilities Monday-Friday 8:00am-05:00pm Responsible for simulating, calculating, and delivering radiation to the patient in accordance with the prescribed treatment plan written by the radiation oncologist.1.
  • Performs treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist.2.
  • Assesses the patient treatment report prior to initiation of treatment, according to established policy and procedure.3.
  • Reports changes in patient’s condition or inappropriate response to treatment to patient’s radiation oncologist and department manager.4.
  • Maintains patient safety from acquired hospital infection control policies and procedures at all time.5.
  • Completes department documentation requirements, to establish policy, time frames and format including:a.
  • Documentation of patient treatment, in the patient chart.b.
  • Scheduling sheet.c.
  • Maintenance of patient charging system.6.
  • Performs radiation therapy quality according to departmental procedure and protocola.
  • Positions the patient and the equipment to obtain the best radiation therapy according to prescribed treatment.b.
  • Performs treatment accurately and efficiently, maintaining quality during high volume periods.c.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize work load, as evidenced by completing assignments within specified time and by supervisor observation 7.
  • Uses all radiation therapy equipment according to the department procedures.a.
  • Prepares the treatment room for treatment and as necessary, cleans afterwards according to departmental procedure.b.
  • Identifies equipment malfunctions, discontinues procedure and reports to manager and/or physicistaccording to departmental procedure.c.
  • Assures that equipment is properly functioning prior to and during patient use, as demonstrated bynotifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions in the equipment.d.
  • Uses and checks radiation equipment according to established procedure in operating manual.e.
  • Handles major equipment with care and according to procedure.f.
  • Maintains and cleans items on a continual basis; before, during and after work day.

  • Assesses the patient’s condition, comfort, and safety during treatments.a.
  • Observes and reports any changes in patient’s condition during treatment.b.
  • Maintains patency of patient lines (chest tubes, catheter, IV solutions).c.
  • Assures patient safety through proper use of restraints/support devices according to departmental procedures.d.
  • Assesses patient comfort during treatment and administers appropriate comfort measures.9.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Job Requirements Certification of degree from an accredited radiation therapy program, followed by licensure from the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (RTT).
  • Licensure from the American Registry of radiological Technologists.
