Job description

  • Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties.
  • To learn more about Baptist Health, visit us at https://www.baptistfirst.org. Highlights: Summary: The Advanced Nursing Extern will be responsible to provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • The Extern's duties and responsibilities are limited to those that fall under the scope of practice of unlicensed health care providers acting under the direction of a licensed nurse as per the Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • This individual shall support the department of Nursing, which include, but are not limited to, selected technical skills, data collection, and lab specimen collection.
  • This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
  • Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
  • Must have completed a MINIMUM of Fundamentals of Nursing Care, Pharmacology, and Medication Administration in Nursing School.
  • Licensure/Certification: BLS required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
  • Strong team leadership skills, strong organization, interpersonal, and customer relations skills.
  • Must be able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, proficient computer skills, proven track record of successful performance.
  • Ability to understand complex multifactor situations and bring appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
