Salary Range

  • $64,972.00 - $97,458.00 Welcome to Albany Medical Center, providing excellent care to our community each day. We have an exciting opportunity for Medical Imaging Techs to join our team. An ideal candidate must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, both independently and on a team. This is a full-time position (36 hours/week) structured as three, convenient, 12-hour shifts. This is an onsite position at Niskayuna EmUrgentCare sites, with some, reimbursable, travel required. Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Properly identify and prepare patients for radiologic procedures and perform diagnostic x-ray exams following established protocols and procedures for patient care and safety in an outpatient urgent care setting
  • Accurately select the correct patient, anatomy and protocols to complete exam
  • Confirm, schedule and log completed radiologic procedures in computer and site schedules
  • Clean and maintain equipment and examination rooms at all times
  • Collect vitals and brief medical history of patients
  • Directing patients to examination rooms
  • Ensuring rooms are setup for efficient patient care
  • Ordering and re-stocking of medical supplies
  • Team support to medical providers and front desk Education Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
  • Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required Experience:
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic x-ray procedures
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and body mechanics necessary to safely perform x-ray exams
  • Basic knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology
  • Ability to communicate clearly and provide routine diagnostic imaging procedures to children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients with consideration to cultural and developmental stages during the exam process

  • Duties and Responsibilities

    Maintain competent imaging skills. Practice in compliance with AMC and department policies as well as New York State Department of Health and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists standards. Assist physicians in all aspects of procedures in their assigned area. Provide a safe, positive experience for the patient. Act as a mentor and preceptor to new staff and students. Actively support AMC and the imaging department in maintaining proper accreditations. Accurately enter patient data into the computer system(s). Perform QA on images to ensure it is of diagnostic quality as well as containing accurate patient information prior to sending to PACS. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age and special characteristics of the patients. On-call duties, if applicable. Strive to grow and develop, creating a professional, progressive department with a positive atmosphere. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Practice of sterile technique, when applicable.

    Qualifications

    Diploma in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program - required Associate's Degree Applied Science Degree - required No experience needed Effectively and professionally communicate with patients and their family members, co-workers, and visitors to AMC. Effectively and professionally communicate with the multidisciplinary team of the patient. Seek out the guidance and knowledge of co-workers to achieve consensus. Read and understand documents such as policies, procedures, and safety manuals. Document patient care on appropriate AMC forms. Ability to problem solve, perform exams, and interpret data efficiently and effectively. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to be honest and punctual and perform the functions of the position to the highest ethical standard as defined by AMC and the tenet of the profession. Ability to be accurate in such matters as data entry, exam documentation, and to use good judgment when performing the functions of the job or when interacting with others. Ability to accept direction, carry out orders, to work cooperatively with others and to avoid creating unnecessary conflict. Ability to adhere to the policies, procedures, and practices of AMC. Ability to utilize the policies of AMC to resolve grievances and/or disagreements. Ability to anticipate and resolve potential problems to ensure continuity of appropriate patient care. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to improve job performance through continuing education. Licensed Radiologic Technologist New York State Registration in Diagnostic Radiography or possess a limited permit to practice in the State of New York Upon Hire - required ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registered Upon Hire - required Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Professional Rescuer certification Upon Hire - required Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
