The role involves preparing patients for examinations, administering medications, and assisting physicians during treatments and testing. Additionally, the position handles patient inquiries, manages medical supplies, and sterilizes clinical instruments.
Candidates must be graduates of a medical assistant program or a school of nursing, with MA candidates required to obtain certification. Prior professional experience in a clinical setting is required.
Greets patients and prepares them for physician’s examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance within the scope of the licensed practical nursing standards. Maintains and assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. Handles telephone inquiries from patients regarding test results, medications and treatment instructions as directed by the physician. Arranges for hospitalization, referrals, or performance of special procedures for patients. Maintains a clean, attractive work area and keeps clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies. Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments, surgical trays, etc. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Graduate of a medical assistant program or school of nursing. MA candidates must be able to obtain certification.
