Short Description The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.

Follows established policies and procedures.

Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors.

Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management and physicians.

Applies Cooper core values.

Other duties as required.

Overview The Labor and Delivery unit has 6 labor rooms, 1 treatment room, and 2 high risk maternal advanced care beds.

There are also 2 designated operating rooms and 2 PACU bays.

The unit specializes in labor and delivery of uncomplicated and high-risk pregnancies.

The Obstetrical Triage unit consists of 7 triage bays as well as 2 non-stress test chairs.

Any patient 16 weeks pregnant or greater to 6 weeks post-partum is seen in OB Triage.

Patients are seen for various complaints as well as for iron/blood infusions, and Rhogam injections.

Experience Required 2 years minimum Labor & Delivery experience as an RN required.

Education Requirements Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.

License/Certification Requirements Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse); Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers); certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e.

Acls, nals, pals).

Special Requirements Per diem, 7am-7pm, Weekends/holidays with rotation.

Level Two Pool Work Requirements: Nurses shall work at least three (3) weekend shifts per six (6) week schedule, and six other shifts per six (6) week schedule, which must include four(4) holiday shifts per year (two (2) winter and two (2) summer).

Weekend shifts are defined as Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for night shift and Saturday/Sunday for the day shift; the 3rd weekend shift can be the RNs choice.

Nurses must schedule themselves for the full shift, as assigned, in order to meet these work requirements.

Requirements

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience and be a graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing. A current NJ-RN license and AHA BLS certification are required.
