Veterinary technician – emergency

$32.00–$40.00/hour (based on experience) + $5.50/hour shift differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM Full-Time | Day, Swing & Overnight Shifts Available | 4/10 or 3/12 Schedules | One Weekend Shift Required Sign-On Bonus: Up to $7,000 (Overnight) | Up to $5,000 (Swing)

SAGE Veterinary Centers – Redwood City is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency team. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinary technician who enjoys the fast pace of emergency medicine and is passionate about providing exceptional nursing care to patients experiencing urgent and life-threatening conditions.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

Triage emergency patients and perform thorough initial assessments.

Monitor patient vital signs, including ECG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation (SpO₂), temperature, and overall condition.

Administer medications and emergency treatments as directed by veterinarians.

Place intravenous catheters and assist with emergency procedures.

Perform laboratory diagnostics and monitor patient response to treatment.

Assist with emergency surgeries and other life-saving interventions.

Provide skilled nursing care while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout hospitalization.

Communicate patient updates and treatment plans with clients and the medical team.

Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and patient care standards.

Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to deliver exceptional emergency care.

Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture focused on outstanding patient outcomes.

What You Bring

Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Three or more years of emergency or critical care experience preferred, or five or more years of veterinary experience with advanced technical skills.

Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing, emergency medicine, and patient monitoring.

Ability to accurately calculate medication dosages, fluid rates, and treatment plans.

Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills.

Ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient in a fast-paced emergency environment.

Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.

Applicants with significant relevant veterinary experience may also be considered.
