About the role

The RN will provide physical and psychosocial care to patients during pre- and post-operative phases. They will assess and interpret patient data and intervene appropriately.

Surgical services registered nurse (Rn): Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 10-Hour Shifts | Gateway Regional Medical Center

Gateway Regional Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Surgical Services team.

This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys perioperative care, values teamwork in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to delivering safe, high-quality patient care throughout the surgical experience.

What you'll do

  • In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in the pre-operative and post-operative phases, including:
  • Performing patient assessments and supporting surgical preparation
  • Monitoring patients before and after surgical procedures
  • Interpreting patient data and responding appropriately to changes in condition
  • Supporting safe, evidence-based perioperative nursing care
  • Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical teams
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to clinical protocols
  • Promoting patient safety and positive surgical outcomes

  • What we're looking for
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN required)
  • Current Illinois RN license
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ACLS required
  • PALS required within 3 months of hire
  • Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience required
  • Critical care experience preferred

Compensation

Compensation is based on education, experience, certifications, and relevant skills. Final offers are made through our compensation process to ensure fairness, internal equity, and alignment with qualifications.

Requirements

Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing and hold a current Illinois nursing license. Additional certifications in BLS, PALS, and ACLS are required, along with one year of medical-surgical nursing experience.
