About the role

The RN will perform patient triage, assessments, and care coordination for obstetric and gynecologic health concerns. They are also responsible for providing patient and family education and maintaining accurate clinical documentation in the EHR.

Overview UnityPoint Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty Clinic OB/GYN Ankeny, IA Monday to Friday Mon/Wed/Th/Fri - 7:30AM-5PM Full-time + benefits 36 hours/week We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic OB/GYN team at the Methodist Hospital Specialty Clinic.

In this role, you will help triage and assess patient needs, coordinate care, and support patients through a variety of reproductive and gynecologic health concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Assessment & Triage
  • Evaluate incoming patient phone calls to determine the urgency of symptoms and appropriate next steps (e.g., pregnancy-related concerns, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding).
  • Provide telephone triage and guide patients to the appropriate level of care, including prenatal visits, urgent evaluation, or emergency services. Care Coordination
  • Assist in coordinating urgent and routine care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs (e.g., early pregnancy complications, postpartum concerns, infections, contraceptive management).
  • Communicate effectively with OB/GYN providers and clinical team members to ensure timely, safe, and coordinated care. Patient & Family Education
  • Educate patients and families on pregnancy, postpartum care, reproductive health, preventive screenings, and treatment plans.
  • Provide guidance on medications, prenatal care, contraception options, and recovery expectations.
  • Offer ongoing emotional support and resources tailored to each patient’s stage of care. Clinical Documentation & Follow-Up
  • Accurately document all patient interactions, assessments, and care plans in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Monitor patient progress, lab results, and imaging, and coordinate follow-up care to ensure continuity and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in neurology or specialty care is a plus, but not required.

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa and an Associate Degree in Nursing, though a BSN is preferred. All experience levels are considered, with prior specialty care experience being a plus.
