Regions Hospital Histopathology Department is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality focused Histotechnician to join our team.
As a Histotechnician at Regions Hospital you will join an innovative and collaborative group of professionals in our newly remodeled laboratory designed for ergonomics and workflow.
Our team has also been engaged in developing our new laboratory information system designed to provide efficiency and patient safety.
Your work will support Regions Hospital as well as six other suburban hospitals and over twenty clinics in our network.
As part of our team, you will: Perform processing of small non-complex specimens under the direction of and as outlined by histopathology medical director.
Perform tests and procedures in a histology laboratory; to perform functions associated with obtaining, receiving and processing of surgical pathology specimens in patients of all ages, to maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, Perform related duties as assigned.
Work schedule: FTE: .6 (24 hrs. weekly), Day Shift Required Qualifications: Education: Associates degree from an accredited Histotechnician program or equivalent.
Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: ASCP or ASCPi board certification as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist new graduate of a Histotechnician program must obtain the board certification within 6 months of hire date.
One year of full-time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last five years Experience processing immunohistochemistry (IHC) and/or Direct Immunofluorescence (DIF) Previous experience in grossing of small specimens Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP)

Requires an Associate degree from an accredited Histotechnician program and ASCP or ASCPi board certification. Preferred candidates have one year of experience in histopathology, including IHC, DIF, and grossing of small specimens.
